Estuaries Across the Region
The environmental health of the Wet Tropics estuaries is assessed on water quality, habitat and hydrology, and fish. For 2021-22 scores and grades are provided where data is available, with further development required for the fish index.
The eight estuaries included in the Wet Tropics Report Card region are Daintree, Dickson Inlet, Barron, Trinity Inlet, Russell-Mulgrave, Johnstone, Moresby and Hinchinbrook Channel.
For 2023-24 the Daintree, Dickson Inlet, Russell-Mulgrave, Johnstone and Hinchinbrook Channel estuaries remained ‘good’ and the Barron estuary remained ‘moderate’, whilst Trinity Inlet and Moresby estuaries declined from ‘good’ to ‘moderate’ since the previous year.
