“Sand from Cattana Wetlands was used to build the Cairns Lagoon, and the quarry now forms the basis for several lakes"”

Geoff McClure is one of a band of conservation volunteers that has been supporting the revegetation works at Cattana Wetlands as part of Cairns Regional Council’s ‘Green Space, Our Place’ program. Once covered in swamps and lowland rainforest, the area was cleared for urban and agricultural development, but it is now returning to it’s former glory as a biodiversity hotspot.

In this podcast, Geoff discusses his love of conservation and the work that has gone into restoring Cattana’s environmental park.
