Terrain works with the community to promote sustainable use of landscapes, soils, water and other environmental assets. They were responsible for developing the Wet Tropics Water Quality Improvement Plan (2015-2020), which aims to better manage our waterways to deal with expanding agriculture and urban development. Terrain is also involved in many water quality projects including:

  • Reef Trust IV Repeated Tenders
    Working with cane growers to reduce their use of nitrogen fertiliser
  • Reef Trust IV Herbert Gully and Streambank Erosion Control Program
    Working with graziers in the Herbert catchment on remediation activities and education on grazing practice
  • Reef Trust III: Growing a Great Barrier Reef
    Working with cane growers to develop nutrient management plans as one of the 17 partners involved in the Wet Tropics Sugar Industry Partnership
  • Wet Tropics Major Integrated Project
    Community designed project focused on the Tully and Johnstone catchments
  • Project Catalyst
    Supporting a network of innovative cane growers to trial new ideas to improve water quality
  • Traditional Owner Water Quality Grants
    Supporting Traditional Owner to run projects that help improve water quality
