Empowering communities to solve environmental challenges, together

One of Terrain NRM’s strategic focus areas is waterway health. As part of this the organisation has successfully delivered a number of large Great Barrier Reef programs on behalf of the Australian and Queensland governments. These programs have mostly been focused on working with farmers to help them transition to farm practices that present a lower risk to water quality flowing to the Reef, while also maintaining farm productivity and profitability.

Terrain is also delivering projects that improve coastal ecosystem health by identifying and remediating fish barriers, revegetating, and managing feral pigs and weeds.

Terrain NRM was responsible for developing the Wet Tropics Water Quality Improvement Plan (2015-2020), which aims to better manage our waterways to deal with expanding agriculture and urban development.
